ADD MORE PLANTS. Plant-based eating is becoming an increasing trend and I am sooo for it!! Don’t get me wrong I love a piece of grilled salmon or chicken but trying to increase your overall consumption of plants is SUPER beneficial! We are massively under-eating Fibre these days bc as hunter gatherers we were so busy munching on loads of roots and plants. Here are my top 3 tips to help you increase your plant intake!
1. Add a vegetarian meal at least one night a week – build these meals around lots of veggies. lots of people like doing this on a Monday. Protein is the hardest macro for the stomach to digest so it’s great to give our system a break once in awhile.
2. Go for greens – try a variety of green leafy vegetables such as kale, collards, spinach, and other greens each day. Steam, grill, roast or stir-fry!
3. Build your meal around salad – fill a bowl with salad greens such as ice berg, spinach, rocket, or leafy greens. Add an assortment of other vegetables along with fresh herbs. then pop in your deck of cards size piece of protein.
